Isfahan - without a doubt. Isfahan, Mashad and Shiraz are absolutely worth a trip to Iran. There is a Persian saying "Esfahān nesf-e jahān ast" (Isfahan is half the world). I think there is some truth to it.

As for Malta and Gozo... yeah they are nice if you are already in Europe, but I wouldn't go halfway around the world for it.
