Mrs. Jsnydcsa and I are considering an iPad 2 for the house. Indeed, as a replacement to a 2002 Apple iMac. Though I certainly wouldn't consider an iPad 2 a desktop replacement, because we both have at least one PDA each and at least one laptop each, we're pretty set if we need a full-on computer. So, we thought the iPad 2 might be right for us for our limited home web surfing, music playing, quick email sends/checks/replies, etc.

I spent about an hour with one at an Apple Store today (amid the continuing conversation of "none in stock except for the 64 gig white Verizon model") and am underwhelmed. Granted, I'm used to a completely different interface, but the whole thing seemed a little counter intuitive. Moreover, the thing seemed to big to hold but also too small.

Notably, for me that lack of Java (or perhaps Java script) support was a downer. I tried a few web sites I normally visit and on one (flysaa.com) b/c it uses Java, some of the menus didn't work. The Apple Store rep said there was no workaround (but admitted that an alternative browser might fix the problem).

Still, underwhelming. I'm in continuing mulling it over mode on this. I want to be a fanboy. But, I can't.
