I do believe you are correct. Booking through SPG with points is a better value over AMEX MR. However, I just feel that if you really aren't going to use the MR points then you should book with points through AMEX if possible. At 1.25 it's not a horrible rate but not a great one either. If it sits in your account it's a waste anyway.

You are correct. Transfer rate is 3:1. I almost pulled the trigger a while back but decided against it.
