I'm not sure when the last time was that you flew out of LAX, but now there is a sign for US F, Preferred & *G in the far right security lane once you get up the escalator, so you should not be turned away. If the line goes all the way downstairs and snakes out the door, you should be able to bypass it and get upstairs via the elevator.
Yes, for the most part. There have been a few times that there's no US Airways board and they will try to have you stand in the long line. But after explaining that the short line is also for US, they just let me pass. Not sure why it sometimes gets removed.
