I've had similar experiences flying US F out of LAX. I've had a paid F ticket and was unable to get priority screening through security which meant I was stuck in line for 40 minutes - all the way down to T2, waiting just to get through security. Barely made it on the plane. I never thought 1 hour would not be enough time to arrive at LAX with an F ticket, boarding pass in hand, no luggage to check, and get on the plane. More recently they've been letting US priority passengers get in a special line at T1 but this T is mainly controlled by Southwest so the US passengers sometimes are told to wait with the regular Southwest passengers. Once I got on the US plane the bin space was all gone and the FA chewed me out for arriving late!
