It's such a shame that a lazy FA will spoil the good efforts of the rest of the company. And as long as FA's are human, we're going to run into some lazy ones, not just on US but anywhere. I do think a complaint is in order. I'd keep it really brief because the CSRs seem to get overwhelmed with longer complaints; not sure if they just shut down, or can't figure out exactly what you are complaining about, etc, either way, simple seems to work better. I'd also set expectations for a red-eye a little lower--- they don't do a lot of service just because they don't want to disturb those who are trying to sleep (really annoys me when some of the heavy-footed folks go up and down the aisle just as I'm drifting off, be it FA or passenger they still thump and thud) but it sounds like you didn't even get the bare minimum. I'd also focus on the big picture and leave out some of the details. It's more important to get your point made about the boarding process being a free-for-all than it is to bring up the Y passengers with their bags in the F bin. My experience is that when you make your complaint too long or too detail-oriented, it goes nowhere.
