Big downside to the 'cash-deposit' is that you tend to have to wait in a line (often a long line) to retrieve your 'cash' and 'settle' your folio. In 'modern times' (and when using a credit card) you can instead just review your folio (easiest on the TV) and either just leave and/or advise the front desk via phone (or checkout on the TV) to just mail (email) a copy of the (settled) folio. Saving you you the hassle of physically checking out.
