In CLT, the US Air lounge is even reluctant to admit me when I'm on a UA CLT-IAD-BAH itinerary (as 1K), but they eventually do.
FYI, even domestic First Class travel on UA does not qualify for Red Carpet access. Only RCC members.
1) RCC will admit any non-US airline (UA/CO/US) *G on a same day, *A ticket. They don't pull SQ's garbage of making up fake rules that violate the published ones.

2) For UA/CO/US *Gs, you do have to be on an international itinerary, but international includes Canada and Mexico flights that are otherwise marketed as domestic-esque.

3) The international itinerary gets you access on the whole trip, not just before the international leg.
