Of course rules may have changed, or the poster's experience may be apocryphal, or not representative of the norm. But by your rationale, no one's personal experience is ever of any value on FlyerTalk.
On the contrary, individuals' personal experiences are often more valuable, and reflect reality better, than the stated regulations or laws.
