First of all thanks for asking. In the end I spoke to the guy in the security dept. who actually ordered the ban, and asked him point blank "what is going on ?" eventually he admitted that I had done no wrong and had me removed from the DNR list (do not rent). I have not rented from Avis USA since then since I still am very upset about the whole incident. so that is all at the moment, though I am still thinking about going back to them for a full investigation. Better not to open the can of worms once again though !
