I would recommend getting a couple of AMEX cards - the Cent card is great if you travel often. Everyone with a Cent card now gets Plat status on Delta which means you'll get upgraded on domestic flight about 75% of the time. You also get status on many, many other airlines, the list is long -- But the card costs $7,500 first year and $2,500/yr after that - so it only pencils if you travel.

If you don't/won't travel much then get the Plat Amex - the points are extremely flexible and you can often get bonuses for transferring to different airlines - for instance there is a 40% bonus right now if you transfer more than 100,000 points to Delta.

I would also get an SPG Amex - the SPG card has historically been the best points card out there.

I use the SPG points for my hotels and use my Cent amex points for air travel.

With that kind of spend AMEX is the best of bread.
