SSSS is a real possibility with a last minute cash purchase, as others have said. I had it once and to be honest I got through security faster than the regular line (they asked me a few questions and that was about it. I would add a 1/2 hour to your timing to be safe but it is no big deal. About the same as if you try to fly without a photo ID domestically...
