Avis does sometimes upgrade on their own, however you could go the booth and some times they will tell you to go and pick one. Hertz is more opt to upgrade just because they have more cars. I would say try hertz for 8 rentals and I bet after the second rental or midsize cars will be fullsize and up. If you would like to discuss more, contact me via email.
