We're also in BUE for serveral days. Is it worth crossing to Colonia for a day trip - or is that just too much travel for what you see?
We were in Iguazu in mid-2007 and from what I recall a cab from Foz to the Argentinian side wouldn't be too expensive. Main advantage over renting would be that I think that cab drivers could sometimes jump the border queue.
We went on two Latin America trips in a short space of time so had already stayed in BUE when we decided to do the Colonia trip on our second visit. I'd say that nice weather is prerequisite so that you can enjoy the boat trip and make the most of Colonia itself.
