Since Amex will take its share off the top, most sellers (whether of cars or of houses) are unwilling to take the loss of thousands of dollars to accommodate this form of payment. Even in the Amex-sponsored car buying program, dealers will only accept Platinum for a small part of the overall purchase price of a car, and that's clearly a concession made to participate in the program.
