I hate to say this, but I am not sure either is a great option...
A) Amandari is spectacular. Amazing. Wonderful. Add your own superlative here.
B) My wife and I were there 3 days / 4 nights just a few days ago. We had a wonderful villa overlooking the Ayung river from our pool terrace, and the rice paddies from our other terraces. Truly an amazing villa. We loved it.
C) We ate dinner 2 nights at Dari - one night we did the Balinese feast in a private Bale set up just for our dinner, and another night at the restaurant. Both meals were very, very good.
So, why, you ask, do I not suggest that you eat at Amandari?
At least while we were there, the restaurant was practically empty! The servers do a great job, and it is pleasant to listen to the gambelan players in the background. But it is hard to build much ambiance when there are only two or three couples in the restaurant with you.
Give them a call - if you will be there this weekend, they will likely be much busier over the Easter Holiday. More people in the restaurant would make for a more fun evening (at least in my wife's and my opinion!).
Another dinner in Ubud we ate at the Lotus Cafe downtown. The food was good (not as good as Dari, but good). Additionally, the place was very lively and full of people, which, as you may have guessed, is the way we prefer it! The restaurant is situated right outside a temple, and the evening we were there, there was a well done performance (music and traditional dancing) at the temple which we could watch from our seats.
Hopefully this gives you an idea of our experience. If you know Aman, you know they will want to make sure you are happy. Determine what you are looking for from your dining experience and call them and make sure they can deliver.
All that said, I would also agree that dinner would be the best and only option. Dark evening, the green light over the infinity pool, and the gambelan players make it far more of an experience than a lunchtime meal...
Have fun on Bali! We sure did!
