It is funny, and mine isn't exactly incredibly friendly either.

I'm wondering if the manager flipped out because they'd had people complain that their room number was announced, not written down, and as such, hotel policy had changed to the policy that each guest must receive the folder.

Either way, there are better ways of handling that situation--the manager simply could have stopped Dillman and said, "Sir, I realize that you're trying to be environmentally conscious, but our policy is that each guest must receive a folder. I do not want my employees to think that it is acceptable to break hotel policy, so please, accept a folder."
