Just wanted to vent here....., just returned a car in Nice, France and the Avis rep thoroughly looked the car over and was quick to point out several fairly superficial scratches on both the front and rear bumpers. He filled out a report (only indicating the worst one), looked up the appropriate charge ~$80. and had me sign the report. I don't often rent in Europe but in general get the impression that they are much more likely to charge for even minor marks than in the US. Although I know I've had minor scratches on rentals in the US, this is the first time I've ever been charged upon returning any rental car.
