Not sure why someone would be "angered." You're only 31 and it's not like you're going to be at an airport without ID handy anyway.
I NEVER travel in anything but jeans and a t-shirt and sweater. I get carded in bars that Host runs/owns (the one place in the world that will card your grandfather) but otherwise I rarely do. Perhaps you just have a youthful look. What's wrong with that?
