We're also in BUE for serveral days. Is it worth crossing to Colonia for a day trip - or is that just too much travel for what you see?
I wouldn't worry about it.....it was a long time ago and things might have improved since then.
The better known hotels are nearer the falls but there is nothing else to do at night but stay in the hotel. At least if you're based in Foz you can go for a wander. The best thing I remember Foz for were the cakes.....nice cakes in the cafes.
One thing to watch...the star ratings of the hotels in Foz leave a lot to be desired. If it says five star think a low three. As for Colonia yes it's worth it if the weather is nice and you have a spare day.
