What is the "ideal" South Pacific itinerary?
Trying to plan a trip. My mother has always wanted to go to the South Pacific, and we were discussing an Australia/New Zealand trip anyway, so I figure why not go via the S. Pacific.
My question is twofold.
1. What are the "must see" locations. Mind you my parents are not going to be doing hiking, strenuous out doorsy type activities and I doubt they will want to "rough it," so more scenic islands with luxury properties.
2. What is the best way to get there? I was considering routing through Santiago to go to Easter Island -> French Polynesia -> NZ -> Oz and taking flights from those main stops as needed. Is there a better way to island hop (short of the CO island hopper)? and who operates flights between some of the must see islands? Thanks! I figured if anyone could answer my questions it would be you guys.
