For those asking how many people were placed in this situation, the GM responded to me. (I did send e-mails to those guests as well)"
He seems willing and wanting to fight. Can't say I am surprised, that's typically how a bully reacts. You have a decision to make. Do you want to spend the time to fight him or not? I know it's frustrating, however, a wise man picks a fight only if it's worth it. Should you decide to fight, you need to gather evidence and in this case, you need to contact AMEX, your credit card provider to sort out what may have transpired and whether there is any truth to the GM's claim. AMEX's response is going to be critical here because they could come back and debunk the hotel's claim or partially support it. It will be up to you to prove the hotel was acting in bad faith and that means evidence. Other than that, if you can, you need to connect with the people who were also turned away, one way or the other.
