I hadn't thought of that....thank you...I will keep that in mind!

If you want a special few moments on a daily basis, I suggest you subscribe to 'spitalfieldslife.com'. It is a true treasure. It appeals to those with a love of London in all corners.
Very much agreed!....and so glad that you reminded me of it, and brought it to FT!

I've been on the London Eye a few times, and enjoyed it every time (even when it was raining) - other places you can gaze over London include The Monument and the very top of St Paul's. Denis Severs' House is fascinating too, especially if you lose yourself in the atmosphere of it.

And not forgetting the current exhibition at the Natural History Museum
I agree.....I will try to book the Ceremony of the Keys for September. I think it will be a lovely time to go as the evenings are getting shorter, and it is usually not quite as warm....so maybe a little more atmospheric?

I very much appreciate another thumbs up for the London eye - I have been on it so many times since it opened, and I love it, partly because I spot so many things that are familiar, and even more things that are hidden amongst those familiar sights....and spot so many new things every time I go on it - I just love it, but was worried that it was only of interest to Londoners, like myself. I was just worried that it may not appeal to someone from afar (due to the poor report by three tourist friends last week).....and so appreciate your approval of it....very much so. Thank you!

Thank you Howie....now, I was thinking of a picnic in the grounds of Kenwood, but Parliament Hill has such a spectacular view....now, I am a little torn as to which would be better to fit in with the rest of the day?

Everyone who has responded has been absolutely amazing! I want to thank all of you! I used to only post on the Starwood forum, but the UK & Ireland forum has been great...and so, so friendly!!!

So, I wanted to ask everyone's opinion on something else. My girlfriend is an artist, however, I don't think she would want to spend so much time in a gallery on this visit....so, I was thinking of a very light lunch in the sculpture garden of the Wallace Museum......do you think that would appeal to a tourist? Especially since food wise, I also want to take her to enjoy the view suggested by SanDiego1k at breakfast time, and perhaps have a picnic later on too....she will be leaving that evening, so we will have a nice dinner the night before.

I continue to value all of your suggestions.....it really helps so much to gain the opinion and knowledge of those who have seen London from an outsiders' point of view......thanks so much!
