In most regards, I think Starwood Customer Care goes the extra mile. I think the resort fee issue has been completely butchered -- and maybe Starwood's hotel agreements tie its hands -- but, that issue needs to be handled better as it is still a complete mess.
Having said that, I am confident the OP will be taken care of. I hope the property gets severely dinged. The OP should get "walk" compensation and then some and I think Starwood Customer Care will take care of it eventually.
