I just called Diamond Desk to book me a room using Q3FN certificates for 3 nights starting this friday. Award stays were not possible so they are trying for the special arrangement.
So at the moment they have booked me a room with a standard rate with a request of switching it to award. Is that how it usually happens?
Would sending an email to the Hotel Manager help in getting this approved? Or should I rely on DD to get it done?
The property is Hilton Boston back Bay.

the Diamond Desk usually takes care of this. they should contact the manager for you and put in the request. it was quite slow process in my case but eventually an agreement was worked out between the Diamond Desk and the hotel manager. IIRC it was almost a week before we had everything settled.
i know that the Diamond special arrangement says you can do this up to 48 hrs before a stay but given how long it takes to get things straight. next time perhaps you should try doing it the week before. JMO.
