OT but when you go safety boot shopping I highly recommend you look at Magnum boots. They have several that meet steel toe specs but use a composite guard. They are comfortable out of the box and very ^ lightweight. (at the expense of brute ruggedness. Oil well roustabouts and Oregon lumberjacks need a heavier construction) Their side zips have no metal, even the sole shank is plastic, they will not trip a metal detector. (I wore mine thru the WTMD in FRA and they did not trip.) Several great online stores carry them, and they even come in wide widths. ^ What I would wear if TSA hired me to stand around all day.
