Air France welcomes its 60th Boeing 777
Monday 18 April 2011
This week, Air France will operate its 60th Boeing 777. First introduced into the fleet in 1998, the Boeing 777 currently makes up over half of the Air France long-haul fleet which also comprises 13 Boeing 747s, 15 Airbus A330s, 16 Airbus A340s and 4 Airbus A380s.
Air France’s Boeing 777s have a non-stop operating range of 14,000 kilometres, which largely covers the airline’s longest route, Paris-Santiago de Chile (flight time of 15 hours). The average lifespan of the Boeing 777 (4.3 years for the -300ERs and 10.7 years for the -200ERs, 2.1 years for the -Freighters) allows Air France, with its Airbus fleet, to operate one of the youngest and most modern fleets in Europe.
During summer 2011, Air France will operate five different versions of the Boeing 777 passenger aircraft, with the following configurations:
4 Boeing 777-300ERs, with a capacity of 383 passengers, equipped with three cabins: Business (42 seats), Premium Voyageur (24 seats) and Voyageur (317 seats)
21 Boeing 777-300ERs, with a capacity of 303 passengers, equipped with four cabins:
La Première (8 seats), Business (67 seats), Premium Voyageur (28 seats) and Voyageur (200 seats),
9 Boeing 777-300ERs, with a capacity of 472 passengers, equipped with three cabins: Business (14 seats), Alizé (36 seats) and Voyageur (422 seats). These aircraft are mainly operated on flights between Metropolitan France and the French Overseas Departments. Air France was the airline to launch the Boeing 777-300ER.
11 Boeing 777-200ERs, with a capacity of 309 passengers, equipped with three cabins: Business (35 seats), Premium Voyageur (24 seats) and Voyageur (250 seats).
14 Boeing 777-200ERs, with a capacity of 247 passengers, equipped with four cabins:
La Première (4 seats), Business (49 seats), Premium Voyageur (24 seats) and Voyageur (170 seats).
Air France also operates 2 Boeing 777 Freighters which, thanks to their exceptional performance, boast the best operating costs per available tonne-km (ATK) and the best stage costs on the market, thus contributing to improving Air France’s competitiveness.
Air France was the launch customer for the Boeing 777 Freighter.
