I would not use a debit card to pay for any service, including air tickets or pre-paid hotel, which is to be rendered in the future. Unlike credit cards, you have no bankruptcy protection. If a carrier or hotel goes belly-up, you may or may not see some of your money in a couple of years. With a credit card, you are fully protected and receive a credit relatively immediately.
