SeaWorld FTW with children in that age group - the animals are a winner (great new Penguin exhibit, Polar Bears, Dolphins, Seals, Rays, etc) and there is a large range of rides appropriate for kids aged 4-6 at the "Sesame Street Beach" area. My son has just turned 5 and LOVES it - we were there last week. Allow a full day, and pre-purchase tickets to avoid waiting in a LONG line.
Dreamworld has "Wiggles World", but that's a bit pissweak and unliklely to amuse your 6yo. We haven't bothered with Movie World, as we don't have pay TV and our son wouldn't have a clue who any of the Warner Bros characters were.
Also of interest for kids that age:
King Tut's mini golf. Great indoor golf course with a Dinosaur and Egyptian themed course. Good hour or two to be spent, and out of the sun.
The children's play area at the Pacific Fair shopping centre is pretty good - great little electric cars that the kids can drive "all by themselves", and a large play area with slides/ ladders/ etc in the shape of a pirate ship. Highly recommended.
A 1hr or so drive North of Brisbane is underwater world - worth a look. Smaller scale and different to Sea World. I haven't been to Australia Zoo for around 8 years but I imagine it would be worthwhile if your kids are into animals or part of the appalling Bindi cult.
