On a slightly related note, a dear friend of mine once came to visit me spontaneously while I was in a city two weeks out of the month for business. I had stayed at one hotel throughout my trips there, alone, and had gotten quite friendly with the staff there. Upon checking in with my friend (we had booked a suite with a king bed, and we've never had any qualms about sharing a bed or accommodation) the front desk manager, who I'd gotten to know, offered to send up a bottle of champagne as a gesture. Thinking it was kind of him, I humbly accepted.
Evidently, I hadn't thought this much though, as it
must have seemed it was my wife/girlfriend who had come to visit. When we returned to our room several hours later, the bed was done up in rose pedals, candles adorned the bathroom, and two bottles of Veuve Cliquot were beautifully presented at the bar. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time tossing the pedals off the bed, and, naturally, enjoying the champagne thoroughly!
