When i read different threads about different luxury hotels around the world it seems that people tend to value different things. Some people seem to stay only in traditional luxury-hotel chains like Four Seasons, St. Regis, Ritz-Carlton, Peninsula, Mandarin etc and some don't even think that other 5* establishment are not worthy been described as "luxury". What im after is to hear from you flyertalkers what makes or breaks your stay and what do you describe as "luxury"?

In my perspective i rate all the 5*-hotels to luxury category and i have been suprised few times when i have chosen traditional luxury-hotel described above i have found myself from old and beaten up room despite the hefty $$/night. Service has been always been great but i prefer modern and new rooms and frankly i haven't came accross bad or impolite service when i have stayed one of the not-so-high-profile 5* hotels.
