I'm starting to recheck reasons for my involvement with FFP's.. For many years, I've enjoyed collecting and travelling, never really worrying about collection of miles, and fully enjoying redemptions.
As my involvement with FT forums deepen, I've come to realize how one can become dependent in programs designed to promote loyalty. A few times I've gotten burnt with loyalty programs.. but that's the result of working a system so hard that when a material change happens I become focused on the negatives instead of the positives.
Anyways, tonite I called Aeroplan for a trip to Cancun before Air Canada raises its point requirements from 35,000 to 40,000.. I find out that the Star Alliance chart is 40,000 for Cancun the same as Hawaii. So I guess AC is levelling to the same point requirements as their Star Alliance counterparts.. I may instead of booking Cancun, book Maui.. but will take a few days to reflect.
