I went through Dulles a few weeks ago and I was with a colleague who has not flown since the NoS were implemented. We went through the main checkpoint and there were a number of stations open so I chose one that had the metal detector and my colleague followed. We had our stuff on the belt to go into the xray and everything was stalled out they were doing something with the machine I guess. The TSA people then suggested we consider the next line over (it had the NoS). I just acted dumb and said my stuff was already out and put into bins and I would just wait no rush we were early for the flight. I acted like I had no idea what was going on. Also we were not ordered to move just suggested we might not want to wait. My colleague started to consider moving over but I said hey we've got plenty of time. So finally they fixed the xray and we went through. Afterwards on the train I explained to him I was avoiding the NoS he had no idea what it did and was shocked they had those things. I explained you have to act dumb and just head for the metal detectors and pretend like you have no clue what is going on and hope they don't bother you. Seems silly we have to go this way just to get from point A to point B on business travel.
