A fair point and I agree. I think the issue is that maybe we should enhance the requirements for this sort of thing.

I seem to recall a number of postings on the AA forum about needing affidavits to take kids out of the country with only one parent present (the procedure is here: http://travel.state.gov/passport/get...inors_834.html).

Circumvented by dual citizenship... but that seems to be a procedure problem. The US should have special procedures to handle these sorts of cases (I repeat that I agree that the airline is not at fault if it followed US laws).

That might be more plausible if the TA knowingly assisted in the abduction of the child (I don't know).
