Still, when we had a daisy-chain of delayed flights on a SAN-YVR-YEG-YQR run a couple of months ago, anytime I checked, the iPhone app was in sync with reality.
That was not my experience as of last week, CVG-YYZ. Flight was delayed about an hour to an hour and a half (can't remember exactly). Despite the fact I signed up for SMS updates through the app for me (US-based (AT&T) cellphone) and my dad (who was picking me up - Canada-based Rogers cellphone) neither of us got an update, despite about 3 or 4 changes to the time. I had to proactively check the app - that seemed to be accurate - however, I expected the flight messaging function would actually send out messages for delays.

Then, I know, a bit OT for the app, landed at YYZ, came in to gate 260 (they should've kept the bus for the RJ gates that far), and waited a good 20 minutes after we parked, for a ground crew to bother showing up to open the door. I know the guy who was trying to make the now 20-minute FRA connection wasn't happy.
