Anyway, most of the time if there is 'gray/gloom', it's quite normal to have the beach socked in & yet drive a mile east & the sun is shining/not a cloud in the sky!! And even if it's gray/gloomy, it doesn't always last that long - could be a early morning thing, but could also last longer. Varies. Just like sometimes it will be gray in May, but not gloom in June & vice versa.

Sharon is very correct on rain in June in the greater LA area, I probably overstated it.
Sharon is also very correct about the gray or gloom generally being temporary near the beach. At the San Diego Marina, it is very common to wake up at say 9:00 AM to a bit of gray, and have it gone by the time you finish weekend brunch at 11:00 or 11:30 AM.
After thinking about it a bit more, I would definitely recommend the San Diego Marina Marriott for your added days after Disney. You can walk lots of places from the hotel, including to the
USS Midway museum and on the walk back from the museum, out on the Embarcadero pier/marina area, which is great for lunch with the kids after the museum. The pool at the San Diego Marina Marriott is truly fabulous (not a word that I use often, see the pictures on the hotel site, under "recreation"), if you get a room with a view of the marina/ocean it will be fantastic, the city street car/electric trolley (I can't remember what it is called) has a big stop just across the street, although
you can walk to the Gaslamp Quarter (click for Google map) in many cases (depends what part of the Gaslamp, and how old your kids are), where there are many great restaurants (many great for families).
Since you are Platinum, ask for a suite upgrade (I am Plat, and got a suite at the Marina two out of the last three times I have stayed there, with king bedroom and pull out sleeper sofa suitable for two kids in living room part of the suite, and with all three of the last three times with a marina/ocean view).
I am sure you will have a great time there, it is a beautiful hotel in a great location.
