Thanks for the explanation and yes, I guess that is exactly it -- not knowing what the fare rules are.

Normally the former, but in this case the latter -- It's just that yesterday the fare class for the 4/25 flight was "Q" and I feel like I should have bought it. Today, it is down to a "U" and not much cheaper. Oh well, hindsight, 20/20, etc.
