Yes you still get a personal TV, it will fold out from the armrest.

How good is the IFE on this service?
It will be AVOD, full details can be found here. It will be the same selections available on both flights.

I've suggested the strategy of booking a window/aisle for her and companion, with the plan to give up the window if someone shows up in the middle seat. Comments?
Most unlikely to happen in an exit row. More chance of this the further back you go. Bear in mind if you like the view that most of the exit row window seats actually have no window (or just a very partial view slightly behind you).

Are the drinks really free? (UA charges in econ these days).
Yes!

I've always heard good things about the BA product. How true is that, especially in the current climate of retrenchment and cutback?
As long as your expectations are not too high, the product is quite satisfactory. BA sits some way ahead of the US carriers but a good way behind the asian carriers.

Finally, the BA.com seatmap for the day of travel shows that 80% of the seats are open. How can this be?
The seat map isn't a guide to the passenger load unfortuantely. This far out, the only people who will have selected seats are the status passengers, those on full fares and those who have decided to pay up to choose, so in total, not very many people at all. Most people will have their seats assigned from T-24 hours when OLCI opens.

I hope that helps!
