I see these posts all the time in all the hotel threads and I just can't figure out what the problem is. Seems pretty straight forward to me. Also, what is the point of having an account and a bunch of points if you don't use them?
If you read William's post (#4) above, it is quite clear that to maintain an active account you must have an eligible stay (using points or points/cash for a stay makes that stay not eligible) or have points received from using your SPG Amex card. Redeeming points does not count.
