Can't you just use points or points and cash for a one stay to keep your account open? Just find a SPG property close to you and either stay and enjoy a night out or just check into the room and come by the next day and check out.

I see these posts all the time in all the hotel threads and I just can't figure out what the problem is. Seems pretty straight forward to me. Also, what is the point of having an account and a bunch of points if you don't use them?
