I agree that if you have trouble paying the $450, then perhaps the Platinum card is not the card to have. However, I wouldn't say it's an expensive card if you use the benefits. I would say, with the GE reimbursement and the $200 air reimbursements, and the $100 annual travel benefit, all of which I've used already this year, the card only cost me $50. And these were expenses that I would have made anyway, even if I didn't have the Platinum card.
