exactly. I was looking at the thread title and just read it that it said "Will Alaska switch to boarding by Zones?" In my head I said "It doesnt much matter"
As mentioned in the ANC Gold Lunch thread, AS management is aware this is a problem. The blame is (correctly, IMHO) placed on the culture AS has cultivated of always trying to please the customer. Telling someone "No, you can't board now" is a negative thing to say to the person in front of you.
I think it was made VERY apparent at the Gold Lunch (by an overwhelming number of people!) that the situation isn't working. Rick et al. said "We hear you loud and clear" and recognize that trying to please the person standing in front of the agent doesn't always translate into pleasing Alaska's best customers.
They didn't line out any specific plans (from what I gathered, our Gold Lunch may have been the first time AS management really got the picture that it's a major issue for many people), but I think they're taking the feedback into consideration and may be changing the model.
Keep bringing this up at Gold Lunches (along with some suggestions about how to simplify things, like going to zones) and maybe we'll eventually see an improvement.
