Which transmission do they have - CVT or DSG?

I've hired an Audi A4 1.8T and an A6 2.0T, both with CVT and they both suffered significant lag off the line, but were fine once moving. I put this down to the CVT rather than turbo lag. I don't like CVT's for this reason.

Having said that, I recently hired an A5 convertible with 2.0T and CVT - it was noticebly less laggy off the line than I remember the A4 and A6 being.

I have no idea why they still put CVT's in Audis, given they have great DSG's.
