residence inn's are more vigilant than other brands as far as taking a cash deposits, especially if no CC on file.

The rooms being larger than normal hotels, lend themselves to misbehavior by the non-traditional traveler (i.e. KEG PARTY!!!).

Traditional traveler has a credit card, cash paying is a HUGE RED FLAG that something bad is about to happen. not guaranteed, but 80% of the time, problems at a hotel are with cash paying guests.

Avoid this by using a credit card for payment, or deposit. Or pay in cash/check at arrival, then they only authorize a deposit to the credit card.
