Back in the day (like 10 years ago) I included my parents' income when applying for my first credit card in college. Household income seems fairly ambiguous. Given that I would often charge groceries or gas for my parents on my card, I don't see why their income wouldn't have counted back when I was in college, even though I lived on campus several hours away.

[This all assumes, of course, that you are a so-called "traditional" student and still use your parents' address as your permanent residence.]
It's a little murky on using my parents income. I don't live with them and my ID and previous card/bank accounts are all at my address. They do pay for my schooling but I'm still not too sure. But I did go ahead and apply and used my roommates income as well as mine. It's not much since we're both students, but it's around 25k total including most stuff. I didn't include EVERYTHING since a big chunk for the both of us is from gambling (we both play poker for income on the side) and the rest is from his actual job and my "job" which is selling things on ebay and taking a cut of the profit. I just signed up for myfico and checked my score and it reported at 735 for equifax. I don't know much about credit scores but I think that's good for only having an account for 6 months? My only worry is that I applied for a student card in October and it's around 6 months and I'm not sure if they'll look at it as being slightly under 6 months since I last applied or not. At any rate I'll hear back in a couple weeks.
