I mean, if they were going to inspect it before you left, why put the hold on your card, as you would have needed to pay damages before leaving in that case, and since the hold was already there "just in case" why bother keeping you around?

Certainly not something that I've run into, sorry about your bad experience.

maybe the OP paid cash as a deposit (then i guess it is undertstandable)
