Not the same, not if you think cost of buying enough Hyatt points for 8 nights in Maldives at $1,769 is the same as $1,415 using the same deal for Hilton points instead. Since Conrad Maldives is a Category 7 property, AXON will be cheaper than VIP award, at 145,000 HH points for 4 nights. Compare the two in multiple of 4 nights will yield that cost of doing these awards through point purchase via Hyatt is 25% higher. For every $1000 you pay, you need to pay 25% more using Hyatt points purchase at $1,250 - not a trivial difference by all means. And the Hyatt promo poses significant challenge in the sense that the 4 Discover America packages come at different average costs and fairly limited quantity. With only 15 packages available at the 69,000 points range, the OP will have a hard time securing one of those on April 15. Without it, it would be impossible to buy enough points for any extended stays in Maldives and that's a place that is not worth it unless you plan to spend at least 5+ days there.
