Lounge access for GM/PM/DM on Canada itineraries
As we know, as a GM/PM/DM "SkyTeam Elite+" passenger, SkyClub/Partner lounge access is granted on itineraries with same day international segment flown on DL or ST partner airline.
I understand from the rules that this also extends to domestic legs provided you connect to a DL or other SkyTeam Intl flight later that day in your itinerary (or have arrived in on an Intl itin).
Seeing as Delta officially classifies "International" as "Customers traveling to/from Europe, Asia, South America, Central America, Africa, Canada, and Mexico (excludes travel to/from the Caribbean)", I assume that going forward, any itinerary to/from Canada on DL will now offer lounge access throughout the entire itinerary on that day?
So TPA-MSP-SLC-YVR in one day for a GM+ would allow lounge access in all cities on that day?
Reason I ask is that I got turned away in JFK as a GM trying to access on an Intl itinerary, so ended up entering using my SkyClub card as I'm still a member. This experience would seem to be contradictory to the above rules.
