I started to but cancelled it instead. I'm now looking at one of my booked tickets for my daughter and it does appear you can simply select the same flight and go from there. My feeling is that you'd be refunded the point difference. I'd try right now to see, but the flight is currently 2,000 more points than what I paid, so, not going to try it. ;-)

This was done about a week ago and it was real late at night so I might have been confused.
