I have a $300 travel voucher for AA and somewhere around 40,000 miles. I would like to fly with 1 other person within the continental US while using up the voucher first, then miles.

Is it possible to combine the two or will I have to get several one-way tickets using my miles, then use the voucher for the other tickets?

If I don't use the entire voucher, the remaining voucher money will still expire on the original 1-year from date correct?

Can I use the voucher to pay for taxes and fees on the tickets I used miles to purchase?

What would you do? I'm thinking I could get some cheap enough tickets for the voucher to cover 2 one-ways, then use miles for the other way.
